The number of corruption crimes revealed in the first half of 2017 decreased by 14%, said Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika at a meeting of the board of the Prosecutor General's Office. At the same time, the number of facts of bribery has decreased by almost 30%.
According to the Prosecutor General, the department has revealed 18.4 thousand corruption crimes during the last six months.
"There are no objective reasons for these figures, and in some regions facts of small bribes were revealed only. It is necessary to focus on more significant violations," he said.
Deputy Prosecutor Alexander Buksman stressed that more than a half of the corruption cases – bribery of up to 10 thousand rubles.
The Prosecutor General's Office notes the maximum decrease in the revealed facts of corruption (by 24.7%) was registered in the Siberian Federal District. At the same time, North Caucasus shows growth by 18.1%.
In addition, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, 377 state and municipal employees have been dismissed for the past six months in connection with the loss of confidence. For comparison, the total number of the dismissed officials during the whole 2016 year was 383.
